I appeal to your senses of Shame

By Admin

In this book, Ms.Nawal Bint Abdullah calls for her sisters in Islam to realize that when it comes to women’s clothing, the threshold of decency and modesty has been smartly and systematically reduced by men in today’s world. She asks her sisters to understand that the liberation that western culture talks about is a disguised form of exploitation of her body and degradation of her soul. The society that speaks about upgrading women’s status today has actually reduced her status to that ofconcubines and society butterflies in the hands of pleasure seekers disguised behind the colorful screen of culture.

Islamic vs Interest based Finance

By Admin

In this book rigorous mathematical techniques are used to compare the Islamic financial system based on variable return scheme (VRS) with the traditional one based on fixed return scheme (FRS). It is shown, under certain assumptions which include risk aversion on the part of investors, that the Pareto optimal contract is the VRS. Also VRS spreads risks more evenly than FRS allowing more risk taking in the economy. The domination of the real world by FRS, i.e. debts contracts, is shown to be caused mainly by informational asymmetry and higher monitoring Costs in case of VRS. But these costs are not prohibitive. The more effective the methods of monitoring and the higher the level of honesty on the part of economic agents, the more superior the Islamic financial system would prove to be in practice.

Rights and Duties of women in Islam

By Admin

The subject of the rights and duties of women in Islam has often been clouded by controversy, personal opinions and sheer ignorance. Although many scholars have dealt with this subject, there has remained a need to discuss wider aspects of the issue than are often tackled. Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Hasan, a scholar of Hadith and member of the Islamic Ideological Council in Pakistan, originally presented this topic to the Council as a short Urdu paper for discussion. Considering it to be a concise yet useful contribution to the field, I rendered it into English.

I hope that this booklet will help to remove some of the misunderstandings, prejudiced opinions and falsehoods, which circulate about the rights, and duties of women in Islam.

– Dr Shuhaib Hasan.

Polygamy in Islam

By Admin

This book is the outcome of thorough studies of sister Jameelah Jones and Sheikh Bilal Philips, both of whom reverted to Islam in 1971 an 1972 respectively. Their western background facilitated a deep understanding of the subject. They have dealt with it strictly in the light of Qur’an and Sunnah and have described important characteristics of marriage in Islam. They have provided a straight forward reply of why Islam allows four wives. The book has been well received by the readership and is key in dispelling the malignant propoganda against Islam.

Polygamy in Islam (Audio)

By Admin

Dr.Bilal Philips, who co-authored the book “Polygamy in Islam” with Jameelah Jones, speaks about the same in this audio.

All religions allow and practice polygamy. However, polygamy in Islam is not for the desires of a man, but for the protection of rights of women. Islam is the only religion which asks man to marry only one wife if he cannot do justice. However, it also allows polygamy in order to protect the women from being misused by the society. And even that is restricted to a maximum of four.

Dr.Bilal Philips speaks about the importance of marriage in Islam and explains how it is an institution of security for the woman. He goes on to highlight the fact with statistics that the most of the people in the west are falling into illegitimate relationships. Islam on the other hand, doesn’t allow this at all. Rather it asks a man to give the all rights to a woman he wants to be with.

He further brings to light the social problems that exist today and how polygamy is the only solution to it.

Taken as Islam. But it is culture.
