Fundamentals of Tawheed

By Admin

Tawheed, or Oneness of God, is the core of Islamic faith. It is common knowledge that is the pillar of Islam that is most precisely expressed in the formula “La Ilaha Illallah” (There is no god but Allah) which states that there is only one true God and he alone deserves to be worshiped. This seemingly simple formula forms the dividing line between Eeman (true belief in God) and Kufr (disbelief) according to the tenents of Islam. Because of this belief the Islamic concept of God is considered to be unitarian and Islam is counted among world’s monotheistic religions along with Judaism and Christianity. Yet according to the Islamic unitarian concept Christianity is classified as polytheism and Judaism is considered a subtle form of idolatry. Thus the principle of tawhid is profound and needs clarification even among Muslims.
